Encouraging and Supporting Publicly Engaged Philosophical Research and Practices

The State University System of New York is facing, like many other universities around the world, a severe budget crisis. At SUNY Stony Brook, we recently held a conference on the future of public higher education, which focused largely on financial threats to the university and in particular, the ability of public higher educational institutions to continue to provide education as a public good.

The members of this group might be able to provide some input into this issue.  I would certainly love to hear your thoughts!  And if we can generate some interest, this topic might be a good basis for a panel at the conference in the fall.
