Conference location and hotel accommodations:

With the exception of a plenary session to be held at the Center for American Progress, conference events will take place at the Washington Plaza Hotel

Discounted rooms are available to all conference participants.  To get the group discount rate for
the Washington Plaza reservations must be made by September 9, 2011.

The Hotel will honor the group rate three (3) days prior/after the group’s original block based on availability.  All requests must be made in advance.

All rates are subject to the prevailing city taxes.  Currently, our tax is 14.5% and is subject to change without notice.If your organization is tax exempt, please submit a DC Tax Exemption Certificate along with this contract. Children 17 years and under may share the same room with parents at no additional charge.

 

To make a reservation, please call 202-842-1300 or 800-424-1140, reference Public Philosophy Conference.  Alternatively, you may log-on at http://www.washingtonplazahotel.com.  Click on "reservations" and then "groups" on the top of the next page.  Enter group code GMU9123.  Please note that the groups page is difficult to access through some web browsers.  If you have difficulty, open the page in another browser or call for reservations.

 

Individual reservations must be cancelled no later than 3:00pm, 72 hours prior to the arrival date to avoid cancellation charges.  Upon check-in, each guest will verify his or her departure date with a signature to his or her registration card.  Should a guest choose to check out prior to this confirmed date, a charge of one night’s room revenue and taxes shall apply.

If an individual fails to check in on the reserved day, one night’s room and tax will be charged.  Individuals guaranteeing a reservation by advance deposit will forfeit one night’s room and tax.  Any remaining amount will be refunded by check.  Companies will be billed one night’s room and tax if the reservation is guaranteed for late arrival to the company. 

 

The hotel cannot guarantee that a room will be available for guests after 6:00am the day after the arrival date.  No show charges can be avoided if reservations are canceled according to our cancellation policy.

Rooms are available for check-in after 3:00 p.m. and checkout time is 12 noon. If for any reason rooms are not available when your guests arrive, we will be delighted to store luggage for them.  We will also store luggage for guests who may require a delayed departure.

PARKING/METRO

 

Underground parking is available for $14 per day (maximum of 10 hours), paid directly to garage attendant.  Parking for overnight self-parked guests is $23.00 and $28 valet is charged to the sleeping room. We are also conveniently located three blocks from the McPherson Metro (orange/blue line) station. 

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the McPherson Square Metro station.

The closest airport is Reagan National airport; you can then travel by Metro to the hotel.
