Interest in public philosophy? Please be as SPECIFIC AS YOU CAN. Members who answer "yes" or "a lot" will not be approved.
I am currently working on a project connecting astro-biology and the search for extra-terrestrial life with public opinion, reaction and policy. Topics range from the evolution and origin of life on Earth to the possibility of communication with intelligent life outside of this planet. I am interested in responses from a variety of disciplines; let's have a conversation!
I also research the vocalizations of top and middle-food-chain (non-human) predators (including dolphins and coyotes) and how these vocalizations change in response to urban life. Communication with non-human life forms on Earth can help us understand non-human forms of communication that might emerge from space.

Welcome to the Public Philosophy Network (PPN)! Since the site aims to support collaborative research projects and networking relationships among its members, we encourage you to fill out your profile page by adding a picture and more fully describing your interests in public philosophy so that others will know if you have shared interests. We hope that you find ways to make the site helpful and supportive of your work and interests by joining an affinity group or participating in a discussion on one of the forums. If your interests aren’t yet represented, you can also start a group or discussion of your own! As we build up the site, we are counting on our members to help us make it a success. So thanks again for being a part of it, and thanks in advance for your contributions. We also hope that you’ll join us at our in-person conference to be held Oct. 6-8, 2011 in Washington, DC. Please note the details on the PPN website.
